The Bereaved Parents Forum at Almagor Terror Victims’ association sent a letter of commendation to former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert following Ynet’s report on the meeting between Kadima MKs and Noam Shalit.

The letter commended Olmert for neglecting to approve a prisoner swap for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit. “You prevented the murder and injury of many citizens of Israel, as has already happened to many of our people at the hands of released terrorists,” the letter says.

The head of a terror victim’s organization reacted to Noam Shalit’s criticism of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who rejected a deal for the release of captured soldier Gilad Shalit for hundreds of political prisoners, some of whom “have blood on their hands.”

Meir Indor of Almagor stated, “As one who hasn’t personally benefited from Olmert’s deeds, I want to honestly say that the former Prime Minister has demonstrated courage to the citizens and leadership against the undisciplined attacks of the Shalit campaign.” Indor cites Olmert’s not giving in to the “aggressive campaign organized against him” despite the emotional pressure of Gilad Shalit’s family members.

The Almagor umbrella group of terror-victim associations announced Thursday that it will start a new campaign entitled “The Security Danger of a Palestinian State,” outside the official residence of President Shimon Peres. The senior statesman announced his support for a Palestinian Authority Thursday, during a meeting with Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana of the European Union.

Almagor leader Meir Indor told Arutz 7, “We chose the President’s Residence after he openly joined the campaign for a Palestinian state. We’ll remind him of his past proposals in the Oslo accords and the establishment of the autonomy [Palestinian Authority -ed.], and how much suffering they have caused us until now.”
